Published Fri 11 Oct 2019

No less than 5 premier events will be played at Brisbane Table Tennis Association in April 2020, with Table Tennis Australia Ltd. (TTA) / Table Tennis Queensland (TTQ) and ITTF-Oceania joining forces to showcase the best athletes, coaches and officials across a 3 week bonanza of table tennis. The events are supported by Brisbane City Council through it’s economic development board, Brisbane Marketing. The full schedule of events is:

- 10 – 18 April: TTA National Senior & Youth and Para Championships
- 19 – 20 April: ITTF-Oceania Olympic Qualification Tournament for Singles and Mixed Doubles
- 20 – 25 April: ITTF-Oceania Junior Championships
- 21 – 25 April: ITTF-Oceania Senior & Youth Championships

TTA CEO Scott Houston was very pleased with the announcement, stating ‘TTA is very happy to combine the National Senior & Youth Championships and National Para Championships into one event for the first time. This fully aligns with multiple elements of our 2019-2022 TTA Strategic Plan, most notably our Values of Inclusive, Collaborate and Creative and Courageous, plus our Priorities of Performance, Profile and Unification. Moreover, TTA is pleased to link with TTQ to host both events through the new TTA Event Agreement model, which has already proven its effectiveness, and we are thankful for TTQ’s proactive and collaborative approach. Brisbane Table Tennis Association is the perfect venue choice, especially given a full renovation has just taken place to make the venue fully wheelchair accessible. Finally, TTA thanks Brisbane City Council and Brisbane Marketing for their generous support of the events and we look forward to showcasing the best of Brisbane to all and sundry’.

ITTF-Oceania General Manager, Barry Griffiths, was equally excited with the announcement. ‘We are excited to showcase the best athletes from Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific island countries at the 2020 ITTF-Oceania Championships and 2020 ITTF-Oceania Junior Championships. The highlight will be the best of the best competing for their dream with singles and mixed doubles spots up for grabs at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. We would like to thank the Brisbane City Council and Brisbane Marketing for their amazing support and also our partners Table Tennis Australia, Table Tennis Queensland and Brisbane Table Tennis Association’.

The Prospectus and Entry Forms for all events will be distributed in due course.
