A statement from TTA
Published Wed 16 Dec 2020
Table Tennis Australia (TTA) is aware of an incident relating to a former NSW representative, who has been charged in relation to alleged match fixing in international table tennis.
Australian agencies detected unusual betting patterns on matches in Europe, and a criminal investigation was initiated.
TTA is not aware of any alleged match fixing on matches played in Australia, or on matches played by Australians.
The man is not a registered member of TTA, Table Tennis NSW or any affiliated local clubs/associations.
TTA fiercely supports the fight against match fixing in sport, and this is a reminder to all athletes, officials and staff working in the sport of the need to ensure compliance with the rules and spirit of the game.
Ends.
