Participation Landscape Review: Building the Future of Table Tennis Together

As part of Play Well (participation) funding provided through the Australian Sports Commission, Table Tennis Australia (TTA) is undertaking a Participation Landscape Review to help shape the future of participation across the sport and inform the refreshed National Participation Plan.

What is a National Participation Plan?
The national plan that sets out how we want to grow and strengthen participation in table tennis across Australia, including our shared priorities, roles and measures of success.

What is a Participation Landscape Review?
The Participation Landscape Review is being undertaken by TTA and Member Associations, with guidance from the Australian Sports Commission, to understand how participation currently works across the sport, identify opportunities for improvement and inform the updated National Participation Plan.

The review has two areas of focus. The first is how TTA supports clubs through its national grants program. The second is the broader participation landscape, including how people enter and progress through the sport, how clubs and volunteers are supported, how participation pathways and programs connect, how data can be improved, and how TTA, Member Associations and clubs can work more effectively together.

The aim is to identify what is working, where the key challenges are, and where greater alignment can make participation easier to deliver, more sustainable and better connected across table tennis.

What Happens Next?
Further updates will be shared as the review progresses, providing visibility of what has been heard, what is being considered, and how feedback is informing future decisions across table tennis’s federated governance model.

The aim is not simply to produce another plan, but to build a clearer, more practical and better-connected participation system that strengthens clubs, supports volunteers and helps more people find and stay involved in table tennis.

Clubs are encouraged to continue sharing feedback and perspectives through their relevant State or Territory Member Association, with Member Associations working alongside Table Tennis Australia throughout the review.
