2023 NATIONAL PARA SQUAD CAPTAINS NAMED
Published Mon 23 Jan 2023
LEI AND PELLISSIER NAMED AS CO-CAPTAINS OF THE 2023 NATIONAL PARA SQUAD
Table Tennis Australia (TTA) is pleased to announce Lina Lei and Nathan Pellissier as the Co-Captains of the National Para Squad for 2023.
It is the third year Pellissier, has been named as captain, while Lei also returns to the role for a second consecutive year.
Following on from their successes at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and 2022 World Para Championships, it is set to be another big year for the National Para Squad with 2023 being the qualification year for the 2024 Paralympic Games.
The Co-Captains will use their wealth of experience to lead Australia’s National Para Team over the next 12-months.
Lei is excited to be back at the helm once again and is looking forward to continuing to build on the Team’s strong high-performance culture.
“I am so grateful to be selected as Co-Captain again in 2023. I hope I can combine my experience with our team culture to help our team to become even stronger in the future,” she said.
Similarly to Lei, Paralympic silver medallist Pellissier hopes to keep building on the high-performance environment.
“I’m really looking forward to leading this team alongside Lina again in 2023,” he said.
“We have built a really strong foundation leading into this year, so it’s really exciting to see what the Team can achieve”.
TTA National Para Head Coach, Alois Rosario said he is looking forward to working with the athlete leadership team ahead of another major year for the squad.
"Having these two athletes as the official leaders of the National Para Squad will help us to reach the goals we have set ourselves as a squad,” he said.
“The quality of these two individuals act as an example for the rest of the athletes as well as the staff in the program as to what ‘Excellence’ is all about.”
