Anthony Moore and Karen Zhang Fill Appointed Director Positions
Published Fri 12 Jun 2020
TTA is pleased to announce that the two recently advertised Appointed Director positions on the TTA Board have been filled by Anthony Moore and Karen Zhang.
The appointment of Moore provides a significant injection of sport and commercial knowledge to the TTA Board, given he is widely recognised as one of the leading sports administrators in Australia. Over a 25-year career, Moore currently owns a consultancy business and previously held roles as the CEO of Basketball Australia and General Manager level roles at Sport Australia, St. Kilda Football Club, Richmond Football Club, SPARQ Training, Cricket Australia and NBA Australasia. Moore was also awarded an IOC Scholarship, where he obtained an Executive Masters in Sport Organisation Management. Moore currently sits on the Board of Women Sport Australia and is a former Board Member of Commonwealth Games Australia.
Zhang, who first joined the TTA Board in February 2020, holds a Bachelor of Business degree from the University of Technology Sydney, and works for Google Australia supporting enterprises with cloud technologies across AuNZ, co-leads the Google Connected Women Australia group and has experience across start-ups, including running her own e-commerce business. Within table tennis, Zhang is a former NSW representative at junior level, was the Founding President of University of Technology Sydney Table Tennis Club and the Founding Vice President of the Inter-university Table Tennis Association.
TTA President Graham Symons commented, “We are thrilled to secure both Anthony and Karen on the TTA Board. As TTA looks to implement its 2019-2022 Strategic Plan, continue to grow in a sustainable fashion and navigate our way through the return to sport post-COVID-19, it is pivotal that we have quality people with diverse skills sets and professional backgrounds on the TTA Board. Anthony and Karen clearly deliver this and I am confident that the TTA Board and TTA Management will continue to work together to further build on the achievements of the past 2.5 years”.
Moore’s and Zhang’s appointments were made following a thorough assessment process by the TTA Nominations Committee and TTA Board. Moore’s term will run until 30 June 2021 and Zhang’s term will run until 30 November 2021; both will be eligible to seek re-appointment at that time.
The full TTA Board comprises: Graham Symons (President), Anthony Jeffress (Deputy President), Marie Pinkewich, Leeanne Grantham, Craig Hayes, Karen Zhang and Anthony Moore.
