Ballarat to Host 2024 Australian Olympic Qualification Tournament
Published Fri 09 Feb 2024
TTA is pleased to announce that the 2024 Australian Olympic Qualification Tournament venue and dates have been determined:
17-19 May 2024, to be held at Ballarat Table Tennis Association.
The Prospectus will be released shortly.
Five bids were received across the country and the quality of all bids was exceptional. TTA is appreciative that so many bids were received as it demonstrates there is a genuine desire around Australia to host our premier events. TTA looks forward to working with Table Tennis Victoria and Ballarat Table Tennis Association to showcase our best athletes as they fight it out for Olympic qualification.
Adam Pegg, Stadium Manager of BTTA, adds "This is a fantastic opportunity for our club and to be hosting such a significant event in a regional centre like Ballarat is amazing. We were fortunate enough to host the Olympic Qualifying tournament in the lead up to the 2000 Sydney Olympics and to be selected as the host again 24 years later is a huge honour for our club. To have the best players in Australia competing in what we feel is one of, if not, the best Table Tennis facilities in the country is fantastic. This will be a fantastic showcase of Australian Table Tennis which we believe will generate huge amounts of interest and attract more and more players to the sport and grow table tennis in Ballarat."
