City of Ballarat to support WTT Youth Contender Ballarat

Table Tennis Australia (TTA) is delighted to announce the support of the City of Ballarat for November’s WTT Youth Contender Ballarat, which will once more bring international table tennis to Australian soil. 

As well as the WTT Youth Contender, Ballarat will host the upcoming ITTF-Oceania Championships and the ITTF-Oceania Youth Championships, with all supported by the City of Ballarat. All three events will be held at the Ballarat Table Tennis Association. 

The WTT Youth Contender Ballarat will take place from 14–17 November, with some of the world's most promising junior athletes descending on Ballarat to contest for world ranking points across multiple age categories, providing Australian players with valuable international competition on home soil. The event forms part of the global WTT Youth Series, which offers emerging athletes a pathway towards elite international table tennis. 

Table Tennis Australia CEO Nicole Adamson added: “We’re really excited to host the upcoming WTT Youth Contender in Ballarat, and we can’t wait to see another international table tennis event here in Australia.

“Without the incredible support of the City of Ballarat, hosting this event would have proved a lot more difficult, so we’re extremely grateful for the support from everyone at the City of Ballarat.  

“The event gives our younger athletes an opportunity to play international opponents on home soil, which is a chance many of them may not have had before.” 

City of Ballarat Mayor, Cr Tracey Hargreaves said she was looking forward to what is shaping up to be a landmark year for table tennis in Ballarat. 

“The three events are expected to attract athletes, coaches, officials and supporters both internationally and from across the nation, delivering economic benefits for local businesses,” she said.  

“This will further cement Ballarat's reputation as a leading destination for major sporting events. With free entry for spectators, it’s a great opportunity to bring the family along and experience the excitement of elite table tennis firsthand.”
