Coburg show that everyone is welcome in the table tennis community
Published Thu 29 Apr 2021
The Table Tennis Australia Equipment and Facilities Grant Program is now in its fourth year and has directly injected nearly $230,000 in equipment and facilities across all States/Territories. The Coburg Table Tennis Club (CTTC) was a 2020 recipient and utilised the grant to invest in two new table tennis tables to suit wheelchair athletes.
CTTC is home to Para-athlete Danni Di Toro and the new table has made it easier for her to move around the table, said Coburg President Brian Zammit.
“We had an old table that had been adjusted to suit wheelchair athletes. It was ok but the new one has made a significant difference,” Zammit said.

The next step for CTTC is to develop some wheelchair friendly table tennis sessions to give people of all abilities the opportunity to try table tennis.
“We have spoken to Scope Australia about partnering to create wheelchair friendly sessions to show all people they are welcome in the table tennis community,” Zammit said.
CTTC encourages all clubs and associations to apply for the Program as it gives you an opportunity to build your community relationships.
“The process for applying for the grant program is straightforward and TTA responds promptly to your queries,” said Zammit
