Five fast facts about Tokyo

To mark 100 days until the TokyoOlympic Games here are five fast facts that you need to know!
1. Table Tennis is one of the most popular recreational sports in the world. At the Olympics, the sport consists of singles, teams and mixed doubles events.
2. Table Tennis will be played at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium. It is one of the legacy venues of the 1964 Olympic Games and served as the main arena for Tokyo 1964. In 1964 the venue hosted gymnastic events and water polo.
3. Table Tennis was first introduced to the Olympic Games in 1988.
4. Top players can hit the ball in excess of 100km/h.
5. The first Australian male Olympic table tennis player was Gary Haberl and the first female Olympians were Nadia Bisiach and Kerri Tepper.
