Five more medals secured for Australian Para Team at ITTF World Para Elite Beijing
Published Mon 29 Jun 2026
Members of Australia's Para Team picked up five more medals, including another gold for Sam von Einem, at the ITTF World Para Elite tournament in Beijing.
von Einem, Lina Lei, Qian Yang, Lenny Properjohn, Lin Ma and Yaser Hussaini represented the Green and Gold at the tournament, and were accompanied by Maggie Meng (Head Coach / Team Manager), An Phan (Para Hub Team Coach), Sam Wells (Performance Analyst) and Charlotte Ganderton (Physiotherapist).
Sam von Einem once again won gold in the Class 11 Men's Singles. Sam's gold was his fourth of the five International Para events he has taken part in this year, along with a bronze medal, which is an incredible result for the South Australian. Sam's hard work in the South Australian Para Hub is certainly paying off, cementing his place as one of the very top players in the Class 11 field.
von Einem dropped just one set in four matches on his way to the final, before defeating France's Lucas Creange (12-10, 9-11, 11-8, 11-7) to secure the gold medal.
Lina Lei won silver in the Class 9 Women's singles, in a run to the final which included victory over Guiyan Xiong of China in the semi-final after having lost to her at the Paris Paralympic Games. Lina battled hard in the final, but sadly fell to a 3-2 defeat against China's Jingdian Mao.
More medals came for Qian Yang, who took home bronze in the Class 10 Women's singles, as well as silver in the Women's WD20 doubles event for Lei and Yang. There were also silver medals for Lin Ma and Lina Lei in the Mixed Doubles XD20 round robin event.
Next up for the Para Team is a trip to Thailand, as they prepare for the ITTF World Para Elite Thailand event, which begins on the 15th July.
Another tournament to be proud of, congratulations, all!
