Impressive Dhooria Through to Top Ten
Published Sat 06 May 2017
Canberra teenager Rohan Dhooria has won his way through a challenging qualification tournament to earn his place in the National Top Ten tournament in Tweed Heads, NSW.
18-year-old Dhooria was the only player not to lose a match in the high quality six-man qualifier.
He was particularly impressive in winning two five-set matches, against Victoria’s Dominic Huang (11-5, 9-11, 11-2, 7-11, 11-5) and NSW’s Bob Liang (11-9, 12-10, 3-11, 8-11, 13-11).
Dhooria joins a top ten sprinkled with the cream of the current Australian men’s table tennis competition, including Olympians David Powell, Chris Yan and Heming Hu.
The women’s top ten includes five-time Olympian Jian Fang Lay, four-time Olympian Miao Miao, and 2016 Olympic debutant, Melissa Tapper.
The finals will be contested at the Seagulls Club in Tweed Heads on Sunday.
