Karen Zhang Joins the TTA Board
Published Thu 13 Feb 2020
TTA is pleased to announce that Karen Zhang has been appointed to the TTA Board, filling the recently advertised Appointed Director casual vacancy following the resignation of Eddie Kocjancic. Zhang will take over Kocjancic’s term, which runs until June 2020. Zhang will be eligible to seek reappointment at that time.
Zhang holds a Bachelor of Business degree from the University of Technology Sydney, works supporting enterprises with cloud technologies across AuNZ for Google Australia, Co-leads the Google Connected Women Australia group and has extensive experience across startups running her own e-commerce business. Within table tennis, Zhang is a former NSW representative at junior level, was the Founding President of University of Technology Sydney Table Tennis Club and the Founding Vice President of the Inter-university Table Tennis Association.
TTA President Jamie Olsen commented, “We heartily welcome Karen to the TTA Board. Karen's entrepreneurial and leadership skills are recognised by one of the world’s most successful companies. Her background and professional skillset will bring a unique perspective to TTA, particularly as we look to push harder into the corporate sector with the Corporate Cup and deepen our engagement with the broader table tennis community, particularly the university and youth communities”.
Zhang’s appointment was made following a thorough and exhaustive assessment process by the TTA Nominations Committee and TTA Board. Continuing the recent trend, a record number of outstanding candidates applied; this is testament to the progress TTA has made in recent years and the exciting future that lays ahead.
Congratulations Karen and welcome to the TTA Board.
