MSAC to Host National Squad Training
Published Mon 29 Jul 2019
TTA is pleased to announce that the National Squad training program will expand further. Starting in September 2019, TTA will open up an additional weekly session for National Squad Members, to be held at Melbourne Sports & Aquatic Centre (MSAC). National Squad members will train alongside the Table Tennis Victoria (TTV) High Performance Program athletes and coaches.
TTA National Head Coach, John Murphy, commented ‘over the past 9 months we have worked hard to develop the National Squad training network. With the additional session at MSAC being added, we now have more than 20 hours training per week available for our National Squad members. TTA is very pleased with how the National Squad training has evolved and no doubt training at a quality venue such as MSAC will aid our athletes as we build towards the 2020 Olympic Games and 2022 Commonwealth Games. Moreover, this initiative aligns perfectly with the 2019-2022 Strategic Plan, especially in relation to embedding a culture of creating internationally competitive athletes. Thank you to TTV for bringing this additional training opportunity to fruition’.
TTV CEO Ritchie Hinton was equally upbeat, ‘TTV is delighted to partner with TTA to see the National Squad members train at MSAC and enjoy all the facilities this great venue has to offer. The National Squad sessions will coincide with TTV’s own High Performance (HP) program, and we are excited at the opportunities this will provide for aspiring and existing Victorian junior and senior State representatives to train in close proximity to some of the best players and coaches in the country on a regular basis. This enhancement of Victoria’s HP program has been a significant part of TTV's 2019 activities, in line with our own 2019-2022 Strategic Plan, ‘Our Future Now’.
