Murray Bridge to Host 2019 National Para Championships
Published Fri 07 Sep 2018
TTA is pleased to announce the National Para Championships will be held in Murray Bridge, South Australia, from 1st-5th February 2019. The venue will be the Murray Bridge Table Tennis Association. Murray Bridge is a growing regional centre located on the picturesque banks of the mighty Murray River - a short 45 minutes from Adelaide.
TTA is taking a new direction in 2019 by creating Event Agreements between TTA and State/Territory Associations for our National Championships. In this instance, TTA is proud to partner with Table Tennis South Australia (TTSA) to deliver and showcase our premier national para event.
TTA and TTSA are grateful for the generous support provided by the Rural City of Murray Bridge to bring the event to South Australia.
Rural City of Murray Bridge CEO Michael Sedgman said the partnership between Council and TTA was a coup for the State and would be of great benefit to the region.
“Hosting events such as this is a win for everyone involved,” he said.
“Competitors, coaches, officials and spectators can look forward to a warm welcome by an active sporting community that champions inclusion.
“Murray Bridge is fast becoming a destination of choice for large scale sporting events and we welcome the economic benefit and tourism opportunities that events like this bring to the region.
“Based on our experience hosting table tennis during the Murray Bridge Green 2018 South Australian Masters Games I can guarantee competitors and spectators alike will enjoy their time in our Rural City.”
The prospectus, entry forms and other information will be distributed in due course.
In another coup for our national events, Bev and Brian James have agreed to come on board to assist with delivering all four national championships. Bev and Brian have played a lead role in running the National Veterans Championships for more than 25 years and have worked at multiple other international events including the 2000 Olympic Games and the 2014 World Veterans Championships and they’ll bring a wealth of experience and professionalism with them.
