Australian Para Squad head to Beijing for ITTF World Para Elite tournament
Published Fri 19 Jun 2026
Nine members of Australia's National Para Squad will travel to Beijing, China, to compete in the ITTF World Para Elite competition, as we seek to continue a successful start to 2026.
Sam von Einem, Qian Yang, Lina Lei and Lin Ma, Nathan Pellissier, Lucas Milsom, Yaser Hussaini, Lenny Properjohn and Gemma Buchholz will all make the journey to the Chinese capital, in the hope of bringing more medals back to Australia. Staff members Maggie Meng (Head Coach / Team Manager), An Phan (Para Hub Team Coach), Sam Wells (Performance Analyst) and Charlotte Ganderton (Physiotherapist) will also accompany the athletes.
There have been several outstanding results on the international stage for the Australian Para squad, including a substantial number of medals across several tournaments, including the ITTF World Para Future, which was held in Gold Coast earlier this year.
The tournament runs from June 24 to June 28, 2026, bringing together some of the world's leading para table tennis athletes as part of the elite series of the ITTF World Para Circuit.
Sue Stevenson, General Manager of TTA's Paralympic program added: "We're really excited about this upcoming tournament in Beijing, where our athletes will once more be competing against some of the world's best para players. We've had a really good 2026 so far, and this competition is another one in which we are aiming to bring medals home. With the World Championships not too far away, this tournament will once more be a crucial opportunity for our athletes to pick up ranking points."
