Sam von Einem returns to World Number One!
Published Thu 02 Jul 2026
South Australia's Sam von Einem has returned to his World Number One ranking in the Para Class 11 rankings, following his magnificent fourth gold medal of the year at the recent ITTF World Para Elite Beijing.
von Einem, who has won gold at the ITTF World Para Future Gold Coast, ITTF World Para Elite Lasko, ITTF World Para Elite Taipei City and ITTF World Para Elite Beijing this year, along with bronze at the ITTF World Challenger Lasko, has truly cemented his place as one of Para Table Tennis' finest athletes this year, resulting in a return to the World Number One ranking for the first time since August of 2024.
Not only has Sam won countless tournaments this year, he has got the better of some of the world's finest Class 11 players, including beating reigning Paralympic Champion Gi Tae Kim, not once, but twice at the Lasko Elite event.
The hard work continues for Sam, along with the rest of the Australian Para squad in the coming weeks, as members of the team head to Thailand for the ITTF World Para Elite Nakhon Ratchasima, which takes place from July 18-22.
Congratulations on an incredible milestone Sam, we are so proud of your achievements!
