Solid Performances for Australia at ITTF World Youth Championships & Mixed Team World Cup

Australia’s rising stars showcased their talent throughout November, competing proudly at the ITTF World Youth Championships and the ITTF Mixed Team World Cup. Here's a short wrap of their results and performances.

ITTF World Youth Championships

Australia was proudly represented across three divisions at the ITTF World Youth Championships, with teams competing in the U19 Girls, U19 Boys, andU15 Girls events.

Notable performances included:

U19 Girls Teams

Australia fell 3–1 to Egypt, with Connie securing our team’s win.

U15 Girls Teams

A strong showing against France, going down 3–1, with Daisy taking the team’s point.

U19 Girls Singles

Connie delivered an excellent win in the Round of 32 against France’s Elise Pujol before bowing out in the Round of 16.

U19 Mixed Doubles

Connie and Adi claimed a solid Round of 32 win over New Zealand’s Timothy Choi and the Philippines’ Kheith Cruz, progressing to the Round of 16.

ITTF Mixed Team World Cup 

This year’s ITTF Mixed Team World Cup showcased a dynamic and exciting format, featuring 16 teams split into four groups of four. Australia faced a challenging pool, matched against Japan (WR #2), India (WR #8) and Croatia (WR #16).

Competition Format

  • Group matches consisted of games of three sets, with every set contributing to the overall score.

  • Match order: Mixed Doubles → Women’s Singles → Men’s Singles → Women’s Doubles → Men’s Doubles

  • The first team to reach 8 sets claimed the victory.

Our Results

Australia vs Japan – Lost 8–1

  • Nick secured a strong set in the Men’s Singles.

Australia vs Croatia – Lost 8–3

  • Yangzi won her singles match 2–1.

  • Hwan Bae picked up a set in the Men’s Singles.

Australia vs India  WON 8–5

  • Yangzi and Finn both claimed their singles matches.
  • Connie & Yangzi took the Women’s Doubles.

  • Hwan & Finn won the Men’s Doubles.
