Sporting Schools Bookings for Term 1 Are Now Open – Get Involved with Everyone’s Game, Table Tennis, in 2026!

Get ready, schools! Sporting Schools bookings for Term 1, 2026 are now open – and what better way to get your students active, connected, and having fun than with Ping Pong Play, Table Tennis Australia’s official Sporting Schools program.

Ping Pong Play is designed to introduce students to table tennis in a fun, inclusive, and accessible way. Whether your students are picking up a bat for the first time or already have a competitive streak, this program has something for everyone. Fast, flexible, and full of energy – it’s the perfect fit for both primary and secondary schools across Australia.

Table Tennis is one of the most inclusive and adaptable sports in the world – a game that can be played anytime, anywhere, by anyone. And with Ping Pong Play, every student can experience the thrill of the rally, the challenge of the spin, and the joy of getting active together.

Why Choose Table Tennis for Your School?

  • Easy to Set Up – Minimal equipment and space requirements make it perfect for any school setting.
  • Inclusive for All Abilities – Adaptable for every student, including those with disabilities or limited mobility.
  • Active and Engaging – Quick rallies and simple rules keep students moving, thinking, and having fun.
  • Builds Lifelong Skills – Enhances coordination, focus, and teamwork that go beyond the table.
  • All-Weather Sport – Can be played indoors or outdoors – no need to cancel PE when it rains!
  • A Sport for Life – From classroom sessions to community clubs and national competitions, table tennis offers pathways for all.

Ping Pong Play – Fun, Fast and for Everyone

Ping Pong Play is all about making table tennis easy, engaging, and exciting for students of all ages and abilities. Delivered by trained teachers or accredited coaches, the sessions focus on skill development, teamwork, and fun through a mix of creative games and challenges.

The program also helps students build confidence and coordination while promoting inclusivity and participation. And as more schools take part, we’re seeing table tennis become a regular feature in the school sporting landscape – especially with its recent expansion into the secondary school space.

“Ping Pong Play is about more than just learning table tennis – it’s about giving every student a chance to move, play, and connect,” says Aaron Tuckfield, General Manager Operations & Community at Table Tennis Australia. “We love seeing how quickly kids pick up the game, how engaged they become, and how inclusive it is for all.”

What is Sporting Schools?

Sporting Schools is an Australian Government initiative that helps schools increase children’s participation in sport and connect them with community sporting opportunities.

Through Sporting Schools, Table Tennis Australia delivers Ping Pong Play, offering both teacher-led and coach-delivered formats supported by high-quality resources and equipment. There’s also funding available for eligible schools to assist with delivery costs – particularly for regional schools or those supporting students with disability.

By getting involved, schools aren’t just introducing students to table tennis – they’re helping to create healthy, confident, and active young Australians.
