Australian team confirmed for ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championships Finals London 2026
Published Thu 19 Mar 2026
Table Tennis Australia are pleased to announce both the Men’s and Women’s Teams who will travel to the United Kingdom for the ITTF World Team Table Tennis Championships Finals London 2026, which takes place from April 28 to May 10.
The Women’s Team for the tournament will be made up of Sanaya Buddhadasa, Yangzi Liu, Constantina Psihogios and Jiamuwa Wu, whilst Hwan Bae, Nicholas Lum, Finn Luu and Aditya Sareen will represent Australia in the Men’s section of the tournament.
Lum, Luu and Sareen will all return to represent Oceania’s number one-ranked table tennis nation, whilst Hwan Bae will make his first appearance in the competition after an impressive last couple of years, which sees him sitting in 2nd place in the Table Tennis Australia National Ranking list.
The Australian Women’s side currently see themselves sat in 18th place in the ITTF World Team Rankings, seven places higher than the ranking during the last ITTF World Team Championship, showing the growth of table tennis in Australia, with a genuine desire to continue climbing the rankings.
Competition will unfold across three stages, with Stage 1B featuring group stages determining qualification pathways, followed by Stage 1A seeding matches for the top-ranked teams, before Stage 2 delivers the knockout rounds. The full details on the playing system can be found here, via the ITTF.
Australia’s Women have been drawn alongside Nigeria, Uzbekistan and Wales in the group stage, whilst the men will face Morocco, Korea DPR and Oceania rivals, New Zealand.
The championships mark the 100-year anniversary of the inaugural ITTF World Table Tennis Championships, which took place in England in 1926. The Championships will feature 64 men’s and 64 women’s teams competing across 13 days at two London venues (Copper Box, Stratford and OVO Arena, Wembley).
Head Coach Ricardo Oliveira hailed the importance of the ITTF World Team Championship for Australia, stating: “This is a massive tournament for all of us at Table Tennis Australia. We have had a successful start to 2026, and bringing our Men’s and Women’s teams to London is something we are really excited about. We are here to compete and win matches in one of the biggest table tennis tournaments in the world. We are preparing meticulously and can’t wait for the action to begin.”
