Table Tennis Australia is pleased to announce the seven athletes selected to represent Australia at the 2026 ITTF Mixed Team World Cup in Chengdu, China, from 29 November to 6 December.

The Australian team will feature Yangzi Liu, Constantina Psihogios, Jiamuwa Wu, Hwan Bae, Nicholas Lum, Finn Luu and Aditya Sareen.

The ITTF Mixed Team World Cup brings together the world’s leading table tennis nations, with Australia set to compete against the world’s best in one of table tennis' biggest international team competitions.

The event will also provide an important opportunity for Australia’s athletes to gain further experience in the mixed team format, which is now an Olympic medal event.

TTA’s General Manager of the Olympic Program, Rob Gomm, said the competition would form an important part of Australia’s preparation for the future.

Gomm said: “Congratulations to all athletes selected to represent Australia at the 2026 ITTF Mixed Team World Cup. With Mixed Teams now an Olympic medal event, this World Cup is an important part of our preparation and provides another opportunity to test ourselves against the world’s best.

“We’ve selected a strong group of athletes who have demonstrated they are ready to compete at this level, and the format gives us an opportunity to utilise greater depth across the team. Our objective is to be highly competitive and push for a strong overall placing against the world’s best.”

The 20 competing nations will be split into two groups of 10, with each team playing a single round-robin format.

This means Australia will contest a minimum of nine matches during the group stage.

The bottom two teams in each group will finish equal 17th overall, while the remaining teams will progress to position play-offs to determine their final placing at the tournament.

Each tie will consist of up to five matches, where the first team to accumulate eight games wins. The order of play is determinedby a toss at the start of the match. The winner of the toss can choose either Women’s singles or Men’s singles first, with doubles following the same order, resulting in the following order of play:

  1. Mixed Doubles

  1. Men’s Singles or Women’s Singles, followed by

  1. The remaining Singles

  1. Men’s Doubles or Women’s Doubles, followed by

  1. The remaining Doubles

Further information, including Australia’s draw, match schedule and results, will be available closer to the event.

TTA wishes all selected athletes the very best of luck at the tournament!
