TTA Governance Rating Demonstrates Significant Improvement
Published Thu 29 Aug 2019
TTA is pleased to advise that our Governance Rating has dramatically increased following the most recent Sport Australia Annual Sports Performance Review. TTA achieved a Governance Rating of 89% overall, which is our best ever rating and is a substantial improvement on the 65% rating from the previous review.
The Annual Sports Performance Review for Governance measures sports against 37 Mandatory Sports Governance Principles under the categories of 1) Sport Structure, 2) Board Composition and Operation and 3) Sport Transparency, Reporting and Integrity.
The improvement in the our Governance Rating comes as a result of changes made under the Board Composition and Operation section. This is primarily as a result of the new TTA Constitution being implemented last year and further amendments being implemented this year. The TTA Constitution may only be amended by a 75% majority vote from State/Territory Associations – TTA is thankful and appreciative for the support of the State/Territory Associations in enabling these positive changes to be implemented and the State/Territory Associations are to be congratulated for taking a collaborative approach.
Under a new Board and new Administration, TTA has been proactive in the past two years to implement a range of governance, financial, operational and administrative improvements and this result underlines the success of the changes that have been made.
Governance and oversight will continue to be a crucial element of TTA’s ongoing strategy and operations and we will endeavour to further build on this positive momentum to ensure that we remain as a well governed and contemporary National Sporting Organisation.
