Updated National Championships Regulations
Published Thu 03 Dec 2020
The National Championships Regulations are required to be reviewed on an annual basis. Although no National Championships were held in 2020 due to COVID-19, some amendments to the Regulations were approved at the TTA Board Meeting held on 3 December 2020, which can be viewed by clicking here.
A summary of the changes are:
- JUNIORS ONLY: U/18 events have been replaced with U/19 and U/17 events. This is to ensure alignment with the new ITTF junior age categories. No other changes to junior age groups have been made.
NOTE: State/Territories Associations are strongly recommended to ensure that all State/Territory level tournaments follow the same junior age groups as ITTF events and the National Championships. - Removal of the need for States/Territories to apply to be a co-host. In reality the order of rotation is followed wherever practicable and a formal application process is not required.
- The requirement to have a Tournament Management Committee has been removed. With the Tournament Organising Committee now mainly comprising paid staff, combined with having sufficient numbers of Tournament Officials, an additional Tournament Management Committee is no longer required. It is noted that the pre-tournament meeting with State/Territory Association delegates will still be held, which was the main function of the Tournament Management Committee previously.
- Online entries and payments are now listed as a permissible entry and payment methods.
We look forward to welcoming everyone to all National Championships in 2021.
