Updated Nomination Criteria for the 2020 Olympic Games
Published Thu 03 Dec 2020
Updated Nomination Criteria for the 2020 Olympic Games was approved at the TTA Board Meeting held on 3 December 2020.
Due to COVID-19 causing the 2020 Olympic Games to be pushed back by a year, TTA worked in conjunction with the Australian Olympic Committee to update the Nomination Criteria, which can be viewed by clicking here.
A summary of the changes are:
- Updating dates and locations where information is now known, or events have already been played.
- Removing one of the previously listed two scenarios, given Australia earned maximum quota places through winning the Oceania Olympic Qualification Tournament for Teams in both genders.
- Including a clause to note that the amended Nomination Criteria does not change the athletes who have already qualified for certain events, in particular Chris Yan and David Powell (Men’s Teams and Men’s Singles), plus Michelle Bromley and Stephanie Sang (Women’s Teams and Women’s Singles).
- Explicitly specifying that should the Oceania Qualification Tournament for Mixed Doubles be unable to be played for any reason, the Mixed Doubles pair will be the highest ranked Oceania pair on the May 2021 ITTF Mixed Doubles Ranking List. This inclusion ensures consistency with ITTF qualification documentation.
