Vale Bill Bates
Published Wed 05 Sep 2018
It is with deep regret, we announce the sad passing of Bill Bates, aged 88. Bill was much loved and admired by all table tennis players Australia wide.
Bill was a champion player in his own right – he was World Over 80’s Champion in 2010, he won 5 x Over 60 National Titles and in the 1950’s he reached as high as number 3 in Australia. Bill is also a member of the Table Tennis Victoria Veteran Hall of Fame.
On top of his table tennis exploits, Bill was respected as a wonderful man and character. He’ll be sadly missed, but his memory will live on.
The service to celebrate Bill’s life will be held tomorrow, 6 September at 10.00am at the Heritage Funeral Home, 733 Boronia Rd, Wantirna, VIC, 3152. A private cremation will follow.
RIP Bill.
