TTA National Talent Identification Program (NTID)

Table Tennis Australia’s (TTA) National Talent Identification Program, has been developed, in conjunction with the Australian Paralympic Committee (APC), to help identify athletes with the potential of becoming an Elite Table Tennis Player and to then encourage them to join their local Table Tennis Club and follow athlete pathways from Club, State, National, and to an International level.

The aim of the Talent Search Day is to gather the results of the participating athletes and upload them onto TTA’s Test Results Database. Over a period of time the results from all of the Talent Search Days will help TTA to identify the specific characteristics that are related to each of the different classifications. This information will be vital in the long term development of our Elite Athletes and for the future success of both our High Performance and Para High Performance Programs.

The National Talent Identification Process is broken into two parts – Physical / Psychological Testing Protocols and On-Table Testing Challenges. The Talent Search Days are conducted at identified Table Tennis Clubs and are run by NCAS Table Tennis Coaches. As a fun finish to the day, a mini tournament will be organised and conducted at the completion of the On-Table Challenges between all of the participants who attend.

For those attendees who complete all of the TTA Testing Protocols and On-Table Testing Challenges, they will be presented with a Certificate of Achievement, a list of the individual’s results for the day and information on how they can become involved in Table Tennis.
