Recap: 2026 TTA Tour Queensland & Youth Olympic Games Qualification Trial

Table Tennis Australia held the fourth and final TTA Tour of 2026, alongside the 2026 Youth Olympic Games Trial at South Pine Indoor Sports Centre, Queensland, from Friday 21 to Sunday 23 August.

The tour saw youth, senior and para categories take to the table, with players from all around Australia taking part in the event, following on from TTA Tours in Perth, Western Australia; Traralgon, Victoria; and Goulburn, New South Wales. Alongside the tour, the qualification trial to decide Australia's two nominees for the 2026 Youth Olympic Games, which will be held in Dakar, Senegal, later this year, also took place.

The Youth Olympic Games trial began the weekend, with each athlete taking part in the first four matches of a seven-match round-robin competition. Ting-Chia Chang, Jacob Huang and Shutian Daisy Xie set the pace early on, with all three securing four wins from four matches on Saturday morning.

TTA Tour action got underway at South Pine Indoor Sports Centre at 8.30am on Saturday morning, with the U19 and U11 singles kicking off the tournament, shortly followed by the Open Men's and Women's singles, alongside the U15 tournaments.

On Saturday afternoon, the nominees were decided in the Youth Olympic Games Qualification Trial, with Ting-Chia Chang of Western Australia and Shutian Daisy Xie of New South Wales topping their groups in the round-robin format. Chang won all seven matches, whilst Xie won six of her seven matches to finish in first place.

Eight events at the TTA Tour were completed on day one, with Yangzi Liu winning the gold medal in the Open Women's singles, beating Qinle Alice Xia in the final, whilst Kavyaa Madaan won the third-place match to secure bronze.

In the Open Men's singles, Dillon Chambers secured his second TTA Tour win of the year following victory in Victoria, defeating fellow Victorian Xavier Dixon in the final. Stephen Liu took home the bronze medal after fighting his way past Lin Liang in the bronze medal match.

Queensland's Taleisha Gaeta claimed gold in the U19 Girls' singles, whilst Ling Wei Yannis Li picked up silver, with Shrinika Hariprasad taking the bronze medal back to Victoria.

The U19 Boys' final saw Lucas Green defeat Ryuho Kobayashi, while Lochlan Keating took home the bronze medal after victory in the third-place decider.

Ling Wei Yannis Li did, however, pick up gold in the U15 Girls' singles tournament, proving too strong for Lydia Tran in the final. Meanwhile, Nikitha Balram claimed bronze to complete the podium.

Lochlan Keating also claimed his second medal and first gold of the event, triumphing over Samyukt Vinodhkumar in the gold medal match. Pin-Yi Lu rounded off the U15 Boys' medals with bronze.

Victoria's Akira Duggal struck gold in the U11 Girls' singles event with victory over Zihui Rose Wang in the final, while Chloe Zhimo Wu won the bronze medal.

Rounding off the results from Saturday, Queensland's Seungheon Sean Yoo won gold in the U11 Boys' event, whilst Oliver Kong and Pacer Lu-Muller claimed silver and bronze respectively.

Sunday saw the U21, U17 and U13 events take place, along with the Open Para Singles.

Samuel Rizkalla won gold in the Open Para Singles and didn't drop a set on his way to the title. Two Queensland players completed the podium, with David Serifovic and Jonas Campbell taking home silver and bronze respectively.

In the U21 Men's event, Adeepa Keerthiratne claimed top spot, whilst Arvin Yeung secured silver. Steven S So completed the top three by winning the bronze medal.

Alyssa Yeung won gold in the U21 Women's event with a hard-fought victory over Taleisha Gaeta in the final, whilst Serena Zhang triumphed in the bronze medal match.

William Lung Sai Man battled past Adeepa Keerthiratne in the final of the U17 Boys' event, with Steven S So also claiming his second bronze medal of the day.

It was a near-perfect Sunday for Alyssa Yeung, who added to her gold from the U21 Women's event with victory in the U17 Girls' event, with Lydia Tran and Serena Zhang completing the medal positions.

Seungheon Sean Yoo also secured his second gold medal of the event in the U13 Boys' event, whilst Zhile Yao claimed silver and Charlie Mak bronze.

Finally, Lydia Tran won the U13 Girls' event, beating Aoran Amilia Sun in a thrilling final, while Nikitha Balram also won her second bronze medal of the tournament, adding to her U15 bronze.
