Croydon Becomes National Training Centre
Published Thu 07 Feb 2019
TTA is pleased to announce that Croydon and Districts Table Tennis Association has been named as a National Training Centre. Through an agreement, the TTA National Squad (able-bodied and para) will train at Croydon multiple times per week. Croydon has already played host to National Squad training since 2017 and this agreement formalises an already strong relationship.
TTA CEO, Scott Houston, commented ‘Croydon have been long-term supporters of TTA and the National Squad and they have a proud history of producing National champions and Australian representatives. This combined with first-class facilities means that TTA are very pleased to formalise an agreement. This is the second formal National Training base announcement in recent weeks and our intention is to have ongoing training environments operating in all States and Territories in the coming months. This aligns with our new Strategic Plan and will give the best chance for players to reach their potential’.
Croydon President, John Keating, was equally pleased with the announcement, 'Croydon and Districts Table Tennis Association are pleased to continue supporting TTA in their endeavors to assist our elite players, this being the third year that we have had the Australian National Squad training in our stadium. With CDTTA providing a world class facility means that these players can practice in an environment conducive to improving their game. With the National Squad training at our venue, it allows our members, and our juniors in particular, to see many of the the very best National players training each week, which we believe will inspire these young players in their development. We welcome the National Training Squad to Croydon'.
