Nicholas Lum Adds Hungarian Silver to European Medal Haul

Rising star Nicholas Lum continued his run of stellar performances in Europe, winning silver in the Under 17 Boys Singles at the World Table Tennis Youth Contender event in Hungary overnight.
On his way to making the final, Lum was in red hot form, winning seven matches against opponents from seven different countries before eventually succumbing to top Czech Republic youngster Simon Belik.
Finn Luu also continued his strong form, winning four matches before top seeded Indian Payas Jain ended his run by the narrowest of margins in a 2-3 defeat.

World Table Tennis Youth Contender Slovak Republic
Yangzi Liu’s campaign in Slovak Republic kicked off overnight, where she was untroubled in the qualification stage. Liu won both her matches in straight games and will hit the knock-out stages with full confidence. Full results can be viewed by clicking here.
World Table Tennis Contender Slovenia
Completing a busy day for Australian athletes abroad, Paralympic Champion Qian Yang and National Squad Members Dillon Chambers and Xavier Dixon were in action in Slovenia. In a tough day for the trio, they all faced stiff opposition.
Yang kicked off her campaign with a 3-0 victory over Ariel Barbosa (Luxembourg), before going down to Mateja Jeger (Croatia) 3-1 in a match where she had some chances.
Dixon faced rising Japanese star Yuto Kizukuri but came up short in a 0-3 defeat, while Chambers couldn’t overcome Carlos Caballero (Spain) in a 0-3 defeat. Full results can be viewed by clicking here.
