Paralympic Program Shines in 2025

In the first year of a new four (4) year Paralympic cycle, our Paralympic Program has already had incredible success and made some significant progress against their Operational Plans.

With the change to the international Para competition calendar and world ranking regulations as at the start of 2025, the Paralympic Program had to quickly pivot to ensure our athletes had every opportunity to meet the new regulations and gain the important world ranking points. In total we funded selected athletes this year to attend eight (8) international Para events, as well as the Oceania Para Championships which was the qualification event for the 2026 World Para Championships.

Our Para Team has won a total of 39 medals across all nine (9) events:

  • GOLD – 18
  • SILVER – 8
  • BRONZE – 13

Apart from our amazing podium athletes’ results, most pleasing for our National Coaches, Maggie Meng and George Logothetis, were the results of our emerging, developing and podium potential categorised athletes who took home medals, some of them for the first time ever. A testament that all the hard work is starting to reap the rewards.

With Alois Rosario taking on the new role of National Athlete & Coach Development Manager (Para) and leading the program, we have also made significant progress with our Para Pathway strategies with five (5) State Para Hubs being established in 2025 and five (5) State Para Hub Coaches being appointed to conduct training sessions each week within the Hubs and to find and develop the next generation of Para athletes.
