Table Tennis Australia join forces with City of Port Adelaide Enfield to deliver Spinneroos
Published Thu 28 Apr 2022
Table Tennis Australia (TTA) is excited to partner with the City of Port Adelaide Enfield to deliver two Spinneroos pilot programs.
Ahead of its commencement at two recreational centres in Term 2, The Lights Community and Sports Centre and Lefevre Community Stadium, a Come and Try session was held during the South Australian school holidays for young players aged 5-12 to try their hand at table tennis.
Spinneroos is a fun and engaging eight-week program for primary school-aged children that allows participants to learn table tennis in a safe environment where they can get active, express themselves and create great memories.
Mayor of City of Port Adelaide Enfield Claire Boan is looking forward to launching the Spinneroos program at their recreation centres.
“This is a fantastic partnership with Table Tennis Australia, and Spinneroos: Bounce into table tennis is a great program that encourages young children to have fun and be active while learning about table tennis,” she said. “We are looking forward to engaging with our community and providing opportunities for them to participate in the sport of table tennis."
By hosting Spinneroos at community and sports centres, it will provide the local community with the opportunity to be introduced to table tennis, especially if they don’t live close to a table tennis club.
TTA National Manager - Participation and Development Egon Loh said he was delighted with the partnership with City of Port Adelaide Enfield to offer the Spinneroos program.
“This is a huge step for the next development phase of the Spinneroos program as we now expand to reach a wider audience through community and sports centres,” said Loh.
“We are confident that the pilot program will be a big success in South Australia, and our next step is to engage all major recreation centres providers.”
To sign up your child to Lefevre or Lights’ 8-week Spinneroos programs, please contact City of Port Adelaide Enfield at 8405 6908 (Lefevre) or 8405 6670 (The Lights).
