Updates to TTA National Selection Policies
Published Wed 03 Sep 2025
Table Tennis Australia (TTA) has recently refreshed three of its key national policies—the National Team Selection Policy, National Squad Selection Policy, and National Selection Appeals Policy—in alignment with the outcomes of the recent High-Performance (HP) Program Review.
These updates mark a significant step forward in strengthening TTA’s Olympic and Paralympic athlete pathways.
The revised policies now follow the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) template, a benchmark of best practice that brings cohesion across Australia’s HP sporting system. Using this template provides a consistent foundation across both the Olympic and Paralympic programs and underscores TTA’s commitment to robust, nationally aligned high-performance governance.
In close collaboration with the AIS, TTA has tailored the templates to meet the specific needs and contexts of table tennis—ensuring relevance, clarity, and effectiveness.
Once the updates were finalised with the AIS, all three policies then underwent review by external legal counsel to ensure compliance, fairness, and sound governance. The final versions of all three policies were formally ratified by the TTA Board, guaranteeing they meet the highest standards of governance and institutional oversight.
These policy updates reinforce TTA’s commitment to fair selection, athlete support, and performance excellence; providing a transparent legally sound, and sport-tailored framework that benefits both able-bodied and para-athletes.
